National Order of the Arrow Conference
The National Conference
Every two years, Arrowmen from across the country gather on the campus of a major university for the National Order of the Arrow Conference (NOAC).
NOAC is Scouting's second-largest national program event. The reason for its growing popularity can be attributed to the fact that it is planned and carried out by Arrowmen themselves. Youth involvement ensures that the conference program will be exciting, relevant, and non-stop fun.
These gatherings normally draw over 8,000 Arrowmen, traveling from as far away as Europe and Asia, for five days of training, fun, and fellowship. With each conference, NOAC becomes more diverse, more fun, and more exciting.
NOAC has many different aspects making it impossible to participate in every event. Each year events are added and changed so you could go to NOAC every time and do new things each time. The main activities at NOAC include training, ceremonies evaluation, American Indian events, shows, competitions and Founder's Day. NOAC has something for everyone of all backgrounds and all ages. It is definitely one of Scouting's most unique and entertaining training events.
The 2020 NOAC will be held at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan.
Our Lodge has asked for 50 total slots, but there are no quotas for 2020. Because this is a youth organization, National would like youth participation in this event. Because of this, National is suggesting a 3:1 ratio of youth to adults. We want the adult participation limited to 1:1. We want as many youth who are interested to attend. If you are interested in attending, we encourage you to register. National will be opening the registration system on October 1, 2019 and we need to know how much interest we have in the lodge. We want to be sure that everyone who is interested will be able to attend.
The fee for the NOAC conference itself will be $545. This is the same fee for staff members, too. In addition to this fee, we need to add costs for transportation, hotel stays, and any other costs for the trip. The added fee will probably be between $200 and $350, with the biggest cost being transportation. The more of the bus we fill, the lower the cost per person will be. Therefore, the total cost is estimated to be between $775 and $890 per person. A payment schedule will be determined in October 2019. Payments will need to be made on time to meet deadlines for reservations and National. Those registering after October will have an adjusted schedule, but the final fee is due to National by May 2020.
If you are interested in attending this amazing opportunity, please register today using either of our systems (paper or online). This NOAC, both youth and adults can register online. A $100 deposit is required at the time of your request. This deposit is refundable if you are not selected to attend (not including any online processing fees). If you are selected to attend, you can NOT transfer your position to another Arrowman. Once you are notified of selection you have 10 days to turn down the offer in order to receive your refund. Once the payment schedule has started in February no refund may be possible unless a qualified individual is found to take your place. Exceptions will be considered for documented medical and family emergency.
Registration will be ready soon.
Those interested in staff positions can apply directly on the National OA website registration.oa-bsa.org. This will also require a deposit of $100.
A payment schedule will be determined by February 2018 once a final cost has been determined. Payments will need to be made on time to meet our deadlines form the national organization, and from any reservations we have made.
You will need a complete medical form (with physician signature) for this event. The form must have been completed after September 1, 2017. Medical Form Parts AB&C
