National Order of the Arrow Conference
The National Conference
Every two years, Arrowmen from across the country gather on the campus of a major university for the National Order of the Arrow Conference (NOAC).
NOAC is Scouting's second-largest national program event. The reason for its growing popularity can be attributed to the fact that it is planned and carried out by Arrowmen themselves. Youth involvement ensures that the conference program will be exciting, relevant, and non-stop fun.
These gatherings normally draw over 8,000 Arrowmen, traveling from as far away as Europe and Asia, for five days of training, fun, and fellowship. With each conference, NOAC becomes more diverse, more fun, and more exciting.
NOAC has many different aspects making it impossible to participate in every event. Each year events are added and changed so you could go to NOAC every time and do new things each time. The main activities at NOAC include training, ceremonies evaluation, American Indian events, shows, competitions and Founder's Day. NOAC has something for everyone of all backgrounds and all ages. It is definitely one of Scouting's most unique and entertaining training events.
The 2020 NOAC will be held at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan.
The lodge has requested 50 attendance slots. While there is no set attendance ratio a 3:1 ratio of youth to Adults is recommended. Our lodge would like to maintain a minimum of 1:1. We want as many interested youth to attend as possible. Anyone interested should register to attend. The national registration system will open on October 1st, 2019. If you are interested in attending apply now so we can ensure you will have a slot.
The fee for NOAC paid to the national organization will be $545. This fee is the same for staff members. To this basic fee our lodge will add transportation costs, any hotel stays, and other costs of the trip. We are estimating this added fee will be between $200 and $350 with the biggest factor being the cost of transportation. The closer we are to filling the seats on our bus the lower the per-person cost will be. Therefore, the total cost can be expected to be between $745 and $895 per person. A payment schedule will be determined in January, 2020. These payments will need to be made on time to meet deadlines for reservations and for the national organization.
Those interested in staff positions can apply directly on the National OA website registration.oa-bsa.org. This will also require a deposit of $100.
A final payment schedule is expected in January 2018 once a final cost has been determined. These payments will need to be made on time to meet deadlines for reservations and for the national organization.
